It's been pretty quiet here in Asgard over the winter, which is why there has been such a large gap in the news updates. There have been a few notable happenings, however.
We saw the arrival of a new recruit, Shrieko, who unfortunately could not devote enough time to populous and had to resign from the recruitment stage. We welcome recruits who feel like this to (re)apply when they feel they can be more active and when they may have less going on in their lives.
I would like to officially welcome Ana24 to Valkyrie status, hopefully she'll join the clan as a Vanir!
After the debacle that was Soda's departure from the clan in August 2008, we have welcomed him back as a recruit after a strong application. I hope he finds a place for himself here in the future. Second time's a charm!
Last November also saw the Asgard Playdate IV, which roused several members from their cyber-hibernation, including the mystical and rare Koen. There were a total of 13 members on at once, falling one shy of the record. There was also quite the Asgard Worlds marathon, and many members had time to catch up and play a few games.
On a final note, I would like to add that the questions on the Asgard application regarding ELO have been removed, as the clan has deemed that particular system ineffective and useless in evaluating potential recruits.
There have also been rumblings of an Asgard Worlds III, so keep an eye out for more news regarding this over the summer.

Well first off I'd like to say that we've been quite behind with the website, and now I'm going to start helping out with keeping it up to date and such.
Node successfully passed the Valkyrie stage on September 16th and is now a full member of Asgard. Congratulations! Don't pull a Soda please!
The date for the fourth Asgard playdate is set for the November 7th weekend. I've been threatened with physical violence if I don't attend, so please attend for your own sake.
Many articles on the site have been updated, including our Asgard Worlds II page, and the Ex-Member History page. Browse and enjoy.
That's all for now, I will update as more articles are updated and if any significant news happens.

Congratulations to Apnea who, after 44 days of recruitment, has earned the [AsG]tag and become a full fledged Vanir! We all wish you the best!Secondly we would like to congratulate both our members and DT's members for the success of the clan match which resulted in a 5-0 win for Åsgard. We look forward to more successful tournaments such as this, for both Åsgard and the rest of the populous community, in the future!
Lastly, due to the success of the previous two "playdates", Åsgard "playdate" III is in the development stage and is planned for the weekend of the 21st and 22nd. We hope for another strong showing!

First off.. Kontera has gained the [AsG] tag and become part of the Vanir after a 29 day wait from his forum account first being activated! Congratulations.The clan match vs Dragon Team has also gone off rather well despite some pre-match concerns, with Asgard already gaining a 3-0 advantage over the week, guaranteeing a victory, with 2 games left to play:

[AsG]Drummerdude48 + [AsG]Salty vs Lixydoon_DT + Taity_Mini_DT
The former being AsG's NW choice, Töm, and the latter being DT's choice, A Narrow Passage.
It should also be mentioned that the second installment of the Åsgard World series, Åsgard Worlds II has been released and is currently at version 1.1 - with the main map contributors being Hundredth, Drummerdude, Staszek and SewerAssassin. You can download it here.

Belated, but congratulations to Randphines for finally becoming a full [AsG] member after a gruelling 4 months as a recruit. Also I'd like to welcome Kontera and levman into the fold for tryout periods as recruits!Åsgard's first clan 'playdate' was a success, with a tremendous display of clan activity to dispell any rumours that we're any less competition in the clan world of pop:re than we ever were. A date for the first (of hopefully many) sequels is currently being debated.
Finally once again thanks to the legend that is DAroo for totally pimping the socks off of this site! Remember no other clan provides the content (now along with far superior coding) to their online domain that we do, once again just another factor helping you to come to the conclusion that Åsgard is the clan you should desire a place in!
New php System for Åsgard site !

This site has existed for quite a long time and has lots of great content. Hundredth did his best to make it perfect. I've been working on this site for a few months, between little breaks while coding it, but at last work has been completed. The following changes have been introduced into the new v4 site:
- It's based on a dynamic php system. All members can login, add and edit articles, profiles and news.
- Automatic generated code has been completely recoded. The site now looks good in most popular internet browsers.
- Images and layout have been optimised, because of this the site now loads faster and browsers cache content.
- Content has been slightly updated, especially wrong or inactive links.
- Coded new gallery for Åsgard Worlds.
- Coded and optimised menu. Site's content is now available for google and other search sites.
- Articles and news code have been optimised.

H-ELO!
After majority voted 'yes', we've decided to join TeratO's ELO experiment as a clan. All ELO related stats will now be included on our friendly 'stats n info' sidebar on right, oh dear we appear to be 1st!

We've now got our own mIRC channel, and i don't know FA about it.. but as far as i understand it's open for the general non-retarded community as well as [AsG] members. Want to come and chat? Play poker? Get slapped with a trout? Talk to Sub, Drummerdude or Radiance about setting it up.
Tourna-mental
Grats to MentiX, who jumped out of nowhere and won the 'Random Restrictions' tournament. Good luck to everyone involved in the more recently commenced events: Easter Point Whore II, 2v2 Töm Tournament and 'Mana Race!'.

Changes inside the clan

Last month saw the start of Åsgard's first tournament for the whole community, the Shaman Skills Cup. This 16-player competition on our very own Valhallah has started with great success, with only one game (out of a massive 48!) left in the primary group stage. Honourable mentions to those non-AsG involved who have shown maturity in helping to make a tournament successful - [TDM]Benjii, [Rw]Ric Man, [TDM]Kwyjibo, [TDM]Adz, [Rw]Fury, [TDM]Bubbles, [GoD]Captain and Skylo.
As for our own clan tournaments, all festive period inactivity has dissipated with a conclusion to both the Chess Tournament (1st place: Staszek, 2nd place: Sub) and 'Civil War II' (win for team Vili), and two new tournaments taking place - the 'Random Restrictions' tournament and a double elimination 2v2 on Töm. 'Battle Royale' is still underway although somewhat dormant, but nowhere near the same fate of that of the [AsG] vs [xXx] clan match which was cancelled due to our opponents inactivity / ineptitude.

Congrats to Drummerdude48 on getting the tag, and (belated, but still) to Snak getting past the applications stage and into the clan as a Valkyrie.
Tournament activity is still high, with two large tournaments running side by side - 'Battle Royale' (8 out of 15 games complete) and Civil War II (with the score currently at 11 - 6 to team Vili). Storm's chess tournament is slowly reaching an end also.
A clan match is also in the works, with rivals Xtreme Xi-Xiphyas (xXx). The match will be a simple 6-man, 2-pair per map, 3 map 'best out of 3' tournament, with the levels including the three most popular - Face Off, Pressure Point and Craters. At the moment both clans are still in the team deciding stage - further info will be up soon on the clan matches page.
Work on the beta of Åsgard Worlds II - our second mappack - has resumed, with both Drummer and Staszek working on levels. Both maps will be added into the beta some time during the new year.
Last of all well done to all AsG members and recruits for reaching the post target of '40, 000 posts by xmas day'! May I point out we are still the most active clan community in populous - as the leagues, our forum, site, and tournaments all depict.

On behalf of the clan i'd like to welcome Staszek to the Vanir after passing his recruit trial with flying colours! Congratulations also to both Ninety and randphines for making it into the clan as Valkyries.
Well done to Storm and Howl for finishing 1st and 2nd respectively in the Pressure Point Troops Tournament, and good luck to all those participating in the current season's events - 1v1 Trees of Life, and a chess tournament organised by Storm. The 'Battle Royale' tournament is still going strong, with five out of fifteen games completed so far.
In response to a certain Pop:Re thread, Åsgard has decided to start a Populous: Reincarnated 'Sin Bin' - an extensive library of players acting like smackheads and breaking the CoC. To submit a screenshot email clanasgard@hotmail.com with 'Sin Bin' in the subject line.
Our forum's 'Strategies and Tactics' board is undergoing major refurbishment, with plans to beef it out with numerous accounts, strategies, hints and tips for the newer players in the clan. The first phase includes the 'Step By Step' guides, with information about how to play each map from start to finish in the form of screenshots with 'Action, Weakness, Advice' captions submitted by members of the clan.
What's new inside the clan?

Applications have picked up a bit with eddie20 and Mobius being accepted as Valkryies. After nearly 4 months of being a recruit, Spudhead has finally been awarded with the [AsG] tag and given full Vanir status.
On the tournament side of things, the Spring / Summer 1v1 Hel tournament has finally come to a close with Radiance defeating Hundredth in the final. Also, two more tournaments have gotten under way. One being the 'Battle Royale', which consists of fourway FFAs, threeways, and 1v1s. The other tourny is a Face Off league, where all participants play each other once. Ragnj (aka Legions) has organized another 'God of' tourny for the Pop:re community, this time on Pressure Point. Åsgard members involved include Ragnj, Radiance, Hundredth, Storm (Rageons), and Sub Zero.
What's going on with Åsgard?

New site, in case you hadn't realised. The council currently consists of myself as leader, with Boyd and Sub Zero backing me on the high council as co-leaders and Ragnj and Shakkazulu filling up the rest of the Æsir. Hopefully with summer over a few (if not all!) of our 'Einherjar' (long-term inactive) may be back! Currently rare sights include Peaveyplaya, Salty and Bdrx, aswell as the normal BlackWe and Koen. Currently with us as 'Valkyrie' (recruits) we have Master JJ, Spudhead and Mogget, but the Recruitment History page is still 'coming soon'.
As well as the above, with summer over tournaments have resumed. Currently we're just finished up two 1v1s based around double elimination, one on the first map in our mappack, 'Hel', and the other with restricted spells for a troop-based tournament on Pressure Point.
TeM FtbRW (Force To Be Reckoned With aka FaT BiRds Win) Storm and Ragnj have now changed their names to Rageons and Legions to publicise their populous marriage. For the records, name changing is still 'baaad' in Åsgard and this was a special allowance after a long high council debate seen as they are team names within the clan.
Aside from that, everyone has been chipping in for a shitload of new content for the new site, so have a look around and have a read.

With it being summertime the clan has been majorly inactive, hence the lack of updates. We have had some changes though with our application system - instead of posting an application in the Recruitment section of our forum, applications are to be emailed to clanasgard@hotmail.com. We'd like to welcome Master JJ back to the clan as a Valkryie after he was removed a while back due to inactivity. We'd also like to welcome Spudhead to the recruits. On a worser note, Smowy did not pass the Valkryie stage and Adz left just before being promoted to a full member. Also, Genesis decided to take his leave from Åsgard.

After a surge on the applications front, we'd like to welcome Smowy and Adz to the Valkyrie, along with an old friend, Acid - aka Scorpio who was one of the original Åsgard members but left last September after retiring from the game. We have however decided to say goodbye to The Zodiac, who we wish the best to in the future after not passing his recruit trial period. Keith52 has also been removed as a result of persistant rulebreaking. There's also been a slight council switch around with Sub and I swapping places, and some of the inactive / active statuses have updated.
Forum activity is back up at an extremely high level, with nearly 1k posts made in a week. Tournaments are also back on the road if you'd like to read about what we're doing as a clan. There's also a beta up for Åsgard Worlds II, with the first three maps.

With turmoil being the flavour of the past month, this news comes as a relief to the clan as we finally get back on our feet with a new server (courtesy again of our wonderful shakkazulu) and a whole host of new forum sections. Things are finally getting back to normal, all outsiders are invited to spam the shit out of our public boards to help us make up the 5000 posts we lost as a result of the Qualisar wipe.

Congratulations to Sunny, who has finally been inducted as a Vanir after an epic wait. On behalf of Åsgard i'd also like to welcome The Zodiac aka appleee to the Valkyries.
In general things are running smooth despite a few absenses, (namely myself, Genesis who has now 'retired' and Salty who hasn't been seen in a while) and numerous new tournaments have been set up and completed over the past season. Due to his long lasting commitment and loyalty, Ragnj has finally been granted a position with the Æsir, the council of Åsgard. He will now help make decisions regarding the clan's future and new recruits alongside Sub, Boyd, Nano and myself.
Elsewhere, progress has also been made on the clan projects front. Fury has launched the start of our second mappack, under the working title Åsgard Worlds II. More info on this and our first offering of new levels can be found on the mappacks page. Also updated: members, recruits.

Still having some trouble with the site / forums, we've moved server again but hopefully everything should be up and running tonight.

New server & domain!

Thanks to contributions from our two clan sugar daddies Yekralc and shakkazulu, we now have our own ad-free server to host our site, utilities and forums! Props also to Sub who bought the actual domain, and Koen who we wouldn't have been able to sort everything out without.

Our mappack has been coded properly for use with the MM, so all names and stuff actually show up right now but it's still awaiting release. After a very long wait we'd like to congratulate SewerAssassin and Peaveyplaya for passing the recruit stage and finally being awarded with the [AsG] tag!
We'd also like to welcome Fury onboard as a new recruit.
There's been another council switchabout, so along with Sub, Boyd and myself the council now consists of Nano and Zasamel! Zasa tickled our fancy the most with his council application and won the chance to be the latest addition. Again, congrats!
Updated the Mythology page to include origins for the names we're using for the maps in the upcoming Åsgard Worlds.
Clan Matches page also updated with info of our first ever completed clan match with rival clan (now deceased) AcM.
In less than positive news, Kassaze has been removed from Åsgard due to excessive inactivity and seemingly being physically inable to post, which as you all know is a large part of our clan. In light of this, i've decided to write up a 'Ex Member History' page.. enjoy :x

Clan leader Sub Zero has decide to take leave from the game as he focuses on more important things in life! As a result, a change of leadership has been designated as a result of Sub's absense. Myself and Boyd will be taking the reigns until he gets back!
